There are a few books that I have been reading for the last few months and believe you should read them as well since I have learnt a great deal out of these books.

The first book is Buying Trance from Joe Vitale. I respect Joe ever since I read about him in The Secret. I love every of his books and what I like most is his sharing on Hypnotic Writing. In Buying Trances, he shares how readers can be put into trance and perform the desired actions that you want them to do.

Joe also highlights the four states of mind where every readers possesses at any point of time.

After reading Buying Trances, I have another deeper understanding of what exactly does it means when people say speaking to your audience.. In this interruptive advertisement age, people are skeptical to advertisement more than ever. Unless you adopt Permission Marketing, else, targeting a niche and speakng to them is the only way to go.

Buying trances will help you to bring readers to your side and get their buy-in with proven techniques. This book is best read with Hypnotic Writing.

Awaken the Giant Within

I have never been a fan of Anthony Robbins even when my surrounding friends keep mentioning about him until recently when I came across one of his books, Awaken the Giant Within.

After reading the first two chapters of the book, I told myself that I should have read this much more earlier! The book requires you to take some actions so that you can relate and realize the principals highlighted by Tony. To be frank, this is the only book that I have read so far that makes me re-read every chapter of it.

The most valuable takeaway for me is the Neuro-Associative Conditioning (NAC) mentioned by Tony. I have been using this technique to condition myself to overcome and break new grounds. If you only time to learn one self development technique to improve the quality of life this year, learn NAC.

There are far too many techniques and ways to improve our current situation to mention here. I would advise you to take a look at Tony’s blog here.

To conclude, the following is a life-changing video (to me) on how you look at your problems. Please watch the video and leave a comment.

Written by Thomas Fernandez and Sant Qiu, this is one book that I should not have judged by its cover..

I remember the first time I saw this book is in Times bookstore and I am turn off by its cover design (I normally stay away books with money notes printed on it.. its just me, don’t take it personal..) I flip through the books at that time and decided it was just another hype..

I saw this book recently in a library when I was looking for some business start ups stuff and I decided to borrow this book as one the the first few pages have captured my attention + soul. The scenarios illustrated by Thomas and Sant are so close (& personal) to me that I feel that they are talking to me face to face! Allow me to go through some of the main parts of this magnificent book.

Setting The Stage
The first part of the book is for New Entrepreneurs or Entrepreneurs (to-be). One of the advices that they gave is pretty common sense to most people but it is now that I realize I’m in this trap as well. You have to over- budget your start-up capital.

Over-budget does not mean 20% or 30%, it should be somewhere near 100%. You may think I am kidding but if you are a big-picture person like me, you must bear this advice in mind. It is all the ’small things’ that you previously didn’t see will give you the headache when you keep looking things in a big picture on your Entrepreneurship journey. Either you have someone to take care of the details or you over, over and over-budget your start up capital.

Along with this tip, there are also many other useful advices by Thomas and Sant that you can find especially in preparing your mental self.

Differentiation

The core of this book is about differentiation. Thomas focuses a lot on how you can differentiate from your competitors. This has always been my model in Internet Business Consultancy as well.

Thomas talks about various differentiation types like Leader, Specialist, Pricing (you may be surprised when you read this), Design and Polarity Positioning. I feel that these techniques are very relevant to any kind of businesses nowadays.

Gaining Trust & Overcome Resistance

The later part of the book illustrates how you can gain trust quickly with your prospects and overcoming resistance from your target market. The keywords are testimonials and guarantee. Again, you may feel that it is common sense to have testimonials and guarantees but it is entirely another thing when you are doing it. For example, there are a lot of testimonials in all types of sales page but are they all receiving great results? This applies to guarantees as well, you may be surprised at how many variation of guarantees you can provide for your customers after you read this book!

My thoughts after reading Secrets To Dominate Your Niche

To me, this is a great book and I am able to read between the lines especially when they are talking about traps most people fall into for business start ups. To someone, this may just be another book on the shelf especially if they are just reading it.

I would not recommend this book a year ago when I have yet to start up my business but today as I am writing this as a small business start up owner, I highly recommend you (for people who is starting their own businesses) to not only read, but write down the main start up advices and read them aloud everyday until you start your business.

Thanks for writing this great book, Thomas and Sant!

I am reviewing the book, Never Eat Alone, written by Keith Ferrazzi in this post. I find the book sums up the importance and also teaches several very important techniques on connecting with people. In addition, I find most techniques are relevant to Internet Entrepreneurs

Keith Ferrazzi is the founder and CEO of Ferrrazzi Greenlight, a marketing and sales consulting company. Both Forbes and Inc. magazines have designated Keith Ferrazzi as one of the world’s most “connected” individuals. He distinguishes relationship-building from the crude, desperate glad-handing usually associated with networking.

To me, building relationships is everything especially if you are going into Internet Entrepreneurship. It is definitely much easier and efficient to achieve business success knowing people that holds the authority or popularity in your industry. Keith has highlighted more than 10 skills on how to connect with people effectively in this book.

Of all the skills illustrated in the book, I find that the chapters on Follow up or Fail, Connecting with Connectors and The Art of Small Talk are the most valuable takeaway for me.

Keith suggested to make follow-up a habit so as it seems automatic. The follow-up can be as simple as a hand written thank-you note expressing your gratitude.

Small Talk is another essential skill for anyone, regardless of your occupation. Keith touches a few points in the book such as being sincere, developing the conversational currency, graceful exit and learning to listen.

The following groups of professionals are known as connectors that you must get to know from Keith’s perspective:

Restaurateurs

Headhunters

Lobbyists

Fundraisers

Public Relations People

Politicians

Journalists

The last section of the book is equally valuable as Keith mentions several basics that one needs to acquire. One of the most important topic is Be Interesting.
