The Secrets of Creating Successful Auctions In Forums
Besides the popular eBay, forums are the next best place to start your auction online. Most forums are free to join and charge no additional fees to allow you to place your auction no matter what you sell, from photo frames to websites. However, most members just write and start their auction without much planning, resulting in no or little response. I am sharing some tips to help you to create a successful auction in the forums.
The objective of thread titles
Most people create headlines (thread titles) with the objective in mind thinking to capture the sales at the first instance the audience sees the title. In my opinion, this is not the correct way to create an effective title. To me, the ultimate objective of a title is not to get people to buy from you, it is to get people to click on your title, thus, bringing them to your listing details. Once you can get your target audience to view your thread, you will then have gained a more focus attention from them. This is where you should convince them to bid or buy your product.
Low bid… but has reserve
Many forum auction nowadays start off with an extremely low bid but with a reserve. This turns most buyers off as they do not want to waste their time bidding on a product only to find that the reserve is near the BIN (Buy It Now) price.. If you have a reserve in mind, simply make that as your starting bid. If you have a high starting bid, rationalize why this is the case. Bidders have a different mindset than buyers, bidders tend to be more vulnerable if you can proof your product’s value - especially if they start to see other bidders coming in.
Post-auction service
If you do not mind providing some value adding services to the highest bidder after the auction, state so. One common factor that is holding back the bidders for making their bids is that they are worried that you will just disappear until your next auction.. If you can offer a little bit of effort like transferring or setting up the websites for the buyer, they will more likely to buy from you.
