I would advise you to start with the respective search engine guidelines. You will capture most of the picture by referring to the Google Webmasters Guidelines at times. Reading these guidelines will set you in the search engines’ mindset and understand what are they looking for.
Visit authoritative SEO site
There are a few blogs and sites that I would recommend for daily reading to catch up for SEO news and updates. The following is some of the most recognized ones:
- Matt Cutts Blog - Matt Cutts is an Engineer from Google.
- SEO Expert, Aaron Wall’s blog.
- SEOmoz - A reputable Seattle-based search engine optimization company.
Participate and learn from the popular SEO forums
Forum is a good place to learn about the latest happenings in the SEO field. The only thing that you should keep in mind when reading the forums is that those information is not 100% reliable. There are a lot of misleading information out there and hence, you should visit the official guidelines and popular sites before considering the advices from the forums.
Being said that, forum is an excellent place to find techniques and learn from other people’s mistakes. Some of the more popular ones are DigitalPoint, SEOChat and SitePoint.
