How To Learn SEO In The Shortest Time

Everyone is busy nowadays and is constantly looking for ways to learn a skill at the shortest time. Very often many new Webmasters ask how can they pick up SEO and learn the fundamentals at the shortest time. My advice is to invest in a quality SEO material since time is not on your side.

Start from Aaron Wall’s SEO Book

Without a good start, you will spend a great deal of time finding and filter relevant SEO information online. In my opinion, the SEO Book by Aaron is the only book I would recommend for SEO beginners and veterans. Remember the fundamentals

No matter how SEO techniques evolve, basic guidelines will never change. The ultimate purpose of the search engines is to provide relevant results to the users’ queries. Therefore, you should always refer to the search engines’ guidelines at all times. You will find the Google Webmasters Guidelines adequate most of the times.

Apply and learn the lessons

After reading the guidelines and Aaron’s SEO Book (about 24hrs approx.), you should have a pretty strong foundation optimizing web pages for search engines. The next step is to apply what you have learnt to your website(s) and monitor the results constantly. Along the way, you can also discuss your doubts in popular SEO forums such as SEOChat and DigitalPoint.

Of course you can always learn SEO without spending a single cent but that would require a significant amount of effort and you must be able to filter out false information. I will blog about this next week.
