Free Stuff In Forums
I have been participating in forums for several years and still find that forum is still a great place to market and find lots of free stuff / services that can help our site(s). I will cover some of the helpful and free stuff you will find in DigitalPoint forum
I want free backlinks!
Here you are. In the Solicitations & Announcements sub-forum, new directory owners will post their new directories there and ask for submission. Very often the owners of these directories will let you post up a URL for free.
As these are new directories, they also spend more time going around promoting their directories. Thus, this will increase the exposure to your site eventually (although this is a short term benefit). Not bad for a free deal

Register a domain name for a special price!
Every Internet Entrepreneur or domainer should at least know the latest coupon codes for the various registrar so as to better utilize the saved funds on other areas. If you are looking for the latest codes to save in NameCheap, check out this thread. For Godaddy, proceed to here
Get your site reviewed
You can also post up your site / blog for critics from the forum members in the Review section. Most members are more than happy to give you some suggestions on how to improve your site in the design, content and structure aspects.
Lots of other free stuff!
You may be surprised that there is actually a Freebies forum in DP
We are fortunate that free stuff pops out from time to time in this forum. Some members help out others to stumble, write articles, give out free domains or links just to build up their forum reputation and exposure. Make sure to check it out every now and then to pick up some free stuff.
Be careful of those free stuff!
I would like to conclude with a word of caution that all not the free stuff are legal.. From time to time, you will see people giving properties that are not owned by them and they do not have the rights either. Examples are popular eBooks and software. If you see people giving away Aaron Wall’s SEO eBook as a bonus, you should be wary about it.
