How To Make Money Online – 3rd Post
Since the emerging of Internet, it has created tons of opportunities to earn money online. One of the long lasting professions is the Domainer. These are Entrepreneurs that invest in domain names and sell them to future prospects for a good profit.
How much can I earn by selling a domain name?
To get a feel of the numbers, you can take a look at the DNJournal Sales Chart. You can see that Seniors.com was sold for a whopping $1,800,000 recently in Moniker. Check out the top domain that was sold for $9,500,000
It is nearly impossible for normal domainers to achieve this level of sales but with enough foresight, it is not difficult to survive just by trading domain names. For example, when Nintendo announced that their next console to be named WII, many domainers rush to register WII related domains like WIIGame.com, WIIGuide.com and WIINews.com and wait to reap a huge profit out of it. WII.US were sold for $2,500 as reported in DNJournal. For your information, it only cost around $8 to register a domain.
How can I start off?
I am not an expert domainer but based on my previous domain trading experience, it is extremely difficult to just register a pure new domain and sell for profit within months.
What I would advice is to study the market and industry for latest news or products. You can consider to start off by registering with domain names forums like NamePros and DNForum. At the same time, register an account in NameCheap in order to buy domain names.
Useful reference
As a general rule of thumb, domainers should bear in mind that .com is always preferred over other extensions. The older the domain name, the more value it will yield. The number of incoming links to the domain also helps to boost its value.
Finally, you can refer to my Domainers Guide posted in DigitalPoint some time ago for more useful information.
Good luck in domaining
