Online Income VS Passive Income

They are not the same :D

Some people had actually think that passive income is online income, this is not true. However, passive income can come from the Internet. Allow me to elaborate, online income can mean a lot of things such as taking up a freelance online job, writing articles or selling domain names. These are not passive.. simply because you have to constantly work for the money. The moment you stop working, so does your income.

There are many people working freelance and are earning a good amount of money. Some of the popular sites for freelance job are Guru.com, RentACoder.com and GetACoder.com.

Passive income is one that generates constant income even after you have stopped working. Some examples are investments (stocks, funds, real estates etc), royalties or through the Internet (PPC - Adsense, PPA - affiliate marketing etc). Most site owners generate passive revenue by utilizing Google Adsense program so as to profit from the traffic clicks on the advertisements.

The Power of Passive Income

Everyone of us only has a fixed amount of time per day. The only way to generate more income is to either work more / longer or charge more per hour rate. Charging more per hour can be impossible especially for normal employees. A feasible way is to leverage on the Internet to allow us to ‘work’ and generate revenue 24 hrs per day.

One great example that I always use is affiliate marketing. By setting up appropriate websites to promote others’ products, this can actually draw in a significant amount of passive income. Top affiliate marketers often earn up to USD $50,000 per month. I am currently experimenting in this industry and see how its working out for me :)

In short, creating passive income streams is the way to go especially in this Information Age. Do share your methods for generating online passive income with me in the forum :D

  1. Yeah, online income and passive income are totally 2 different things. It’s great that you clarify that and cleared people misconception. But I guess you miss out one source for passive income online. It’s doing Internet Network Marketing. Works exactly like affiliate marketing but you can get residual income instead. :)

  3. There are a million and one ways of generating passive income.

The ways of marketing godfather Jay Abraham may be different and not suitable for everyone.

Besides affiliate programs, residual recurring income products or internet or offline network marketing, another source of passive income could be what Jay Abraham does…

That is, you empower other businesses to be successful, by giving entrepreneurs your time, energy and expertise, and instead of or over and above charging them your consultation fee, these businesses give you a share of their profits (i.e. a percentage equity) for life.

Dividends on shares is also passive income but that is another school altogether.

  5. Hear ye Hear ye.

    Passive Income =/ internet income.

At least most of the time. Unless u have other contributors to your blog or that you have a strong affiliate following that keeps promoting your product which is recurrent billing as well.

    thanks for the post!
