I have read a book recently about advertising which summaries the key concepts that all marketers should bear in mind when creating headlines. More than often, we create headlines illustrating the features and the advantages of a product and this actually leads to poorer click-through and eventually low sales.

A powerful technique to bear in mind is to focus on the product’s benefits in the customer’s perspective. It is important to sell the product’s benefit so that potential customers can better relate themselves to the product. For example, saying Try Out the New Technology Breakthrough Pen! is selling its features. It should have been written as Increase Your Writing Speed by 100%!.
