Cool facts about Google PageRank
As Google will be pushing out the visual pagerank anytime from now, I think I would do a post on some PR facts and hope that more readers especially the Webmasters will understand how PR actually works
Some of the experienced Webmasters or Search Engine optimizers may already know these information but I still feel that it is good to share
1. What you see is not what it is
Just because we saw a page of PR 7 does not mean that it has this PR value at that point of time. The truth is that Google only updates the Google toolbar once every three months. However, in the backend, they update the PR frequently and reflects in the Search Engine Result Page (SERP) where all the queries are carried out. Hence, we will never know the real PR at any point of time
2. PageRank is PageRank
Yes, don’t doubt about it. PR only apply to a certain page. A site that consists of multiple pages will have different PR allocated. It is also common for an internal page to have a PR higher than the homepage. The reason is that more people are linking to that internal page.
3. PageRank can be fake
There are sites that utilize fake PR techniques to display their page’s PR to 10 :0 Of course, this is not recommended.
4. What is the most accurate pagerank prediction tool
None. If you have used third party tools to generate predicted pagerank for your page, you will know what I mean
Google keeps updating their algorithm and no external tools can calculate their PR without knowing the maths. In addition, seeing the predicted PR is discouraging most of the time. You might as well use this time to create link baits.
5. No traffic but high pagerank
Most people sees pagerank as the only factor for page rankings. This is not true, Google uses other factors as well to calculate the rankings, pagerank is one of them. The most important factor is content relevancy. Google would not want to show people a high PR site with low relevancy. It is common to have a PR 5 page with no search engine traffic.
6. Get rich with pagerank
Now, this is true ![]()
Most Webmasters profit from selling their high PR text links for a good sum of money. A PR 7 site can earn a few hundred dollars per month just by selling text links. You can play around this calculator to see how much a link costs in a site

Hi axileon, the fastest way is to buy links from authority sites with high PR but this is against the Google Webmaster Guidelines.
We should focus on marketing our site constantly such as article marketing, blog buzz (reviews etc) or social bookmarking.
